A new diet trend promises to turn on our “skinny -gene”
Sirtuins (SIRTs) are proteins that protect the body from stress and strengthen the immune system. The proteins help to burn fat, build muscle, and even combat cravings. At the same time, sirtuins take over functions around cell metabolism and cell protection. The diet suggests that sirtfoods stimulate the sirtuin activity in the human body, which can slow down the cell aging and thus the entire aging process.

At the same time, sirtuins take over functions around cell metabolism and cell protection. The diet suggests that sirtfoods stimulate the sirtuin activity in the human body, which can slow down the cell aging and thus the entire aging process.
Essentially, these are foods that contain a particularly high number of sirtuins. They are healthy and some of them are known as superfoods:
Celery, Buckwheat, Walnuts, Turmeric, Soya, extra virgin olive oil, black coffee, Arugula, Capers, red onions, Garlic, Blueberries, Strawberries, Kale, Apples, green tea, Chilies, Parsley, Red wine, especially Pinot Noir, Dark chocolate with at least 85 % cocoa.
Stars like Adele and Co. swear by the diet of sirtuin-rich foods and have lost a few kilos in a very short time. With the Sirtfood Diet the daily calorie intake is limited. The diet basically consists of 3 phases over 3 weeks:
1. Phase: 1000 kcal daily. Three green juices and a main meal, all rich in sirtuin-containing foods. The body is thus programmed to “lose weight”.
2. Phase: The first and most difficult phase is completed. In phase two, the calorie intake is increased to 1500 calories. There are now two green juices and two main meals per day.
3. Phase: In the third or maintenance phase, basically everything is allowed as long as you have as many sirtfoods as possible on your menu and consume about 1800 calories. There are three main meals a day. In addition to the sirtfoods, “normal” foods are included again.
The diet promises that by following it, you will not only lose weight, but also feel more awake, fitter and more comfortable all round. Although the Sirtfood Diet promotes healthy and nutritious foods, which is always recommendable, the diet offers few food choices and is based on a low-calorie intake, which should only be followed, especially over a long period of time, with the approval of a physician.
